Choose your syringe first. Then enter the contents of the vial, the volume of water and the target amount per withdrawal. The calculator shows the concentration, the volume to draw and the matching units on the scale of your syringe – instantly, as you type.

How the calculation works
Three steps, all in your browser:
- Concentration (mg/ml) = contents of the vial (mg) ÷ water (ml)
- Volume to draw (ml) = target amount per withdrawal (mg) ÷ concentration (mg/ml)
- Units on the scale = volume to draw (ml) × 100 on a U-100 scale (100 units = 1 ml), or × 40 on a U-40 scale (40 units = 1 ml).
Withdrawals per vial = contents of the vial ÷ target amount per withdrawal, rounded down.
Example: 10 mg in 2 ml of water gives 5 mg/ml. For a target amount of 250 mcg (0.25 mg), the volume to draw is 0.05 ml, which is 5 units on a U-100 scale or 2 units on a U-40 scale (0.05 × 40). The vial holds 40 withdrawals of this size.

For laboratory research only. Not for human use. Not for use in animals either. This calculator only converts amounts and volumes as they arise when reconstituting and dividing research materials in the lab. It gives no recommendation on which amounts to use. Supplied only to qualified persons aged 18 or over.
